We often think that success in life is a matter of luck. It can sometimes seem random that some people seem to have things go right for them, while others can’t ever seem to get a break.
However, God says we need Wisdom, Understanding & Knowledge to know what “every good path” is. He says we need to search for those things as for hidden treasures. I shorten this to WUK and like the idea of wishing others WUK instead of luck.
Look at what the Bible says in this passage from Proverbs 2:1-9
1 My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you,
2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;
3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding,
4 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
8 He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.
9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.
Notice the “Ifs” in the above passage. These are conditions for us to find what verse 9 calls: “righteousness and justice, equity and every good path”.
Then moving on to Proverbs 3:13-15, it continues:
13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding;
14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold.
15 She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare to her.
Do you see that? Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge are BETTER than silver, gold and precious rubies. In fact “all the things you may desire cannot compare” to them.
So let’s dig in deeper and find out how we can increase in Wisdom, Understanding and Knowledge. As we do, we’ll learn how they are central to learning to Work With Your Hands.
