Why Work With Your Hands?

…Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, … so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.  I Thessalonians 4:11-12

  1. Are you, your children or grandchildren caught in the endless all-consuming stream of social media, video games and other media traps?  Without any meaningful alternative activities, these time-fillers can warp one’s view of reality and cause confusion about living with purpose.
  2. Are you tired of all the cheap, foreign made toys with their electronic bells and whistles that fall apart or break, and are quickly discarded and ready for nothing but the trash?
  3. Would you like to find an alternative that helps to build character, skills, wholesome fun, creative thinking and strong family bonds?

We all need to develop skills and interests that will provide a lifetime of healthy pursuits. Discovering the skills and tools needed to be productive and create value in our lives, and the lives of those we love, can make a huge difference in how we feel about life and our own value.

At the same time, you’ll be creating a legacy of fun, productivity, and skillful living.

Recent years have shown us more than ever before that this world is in big trouble. It is time that we take seriously the warning in the last chapter of the Old Testament before it’s too late.

Malachi 4:6 says:

And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

We can turn things around!

It is time for fathers (especially) but also mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, to turn our hearts to our children. This can result in turning our kids’ hearts toward us. Our important jobs, big houses, fancy cars, etc., will not matter one bit if we don’t connect as families in loving, nurturing relationships. In fact, God says he will come and strike the earth with a curse if we don’t pay attention and take action. Just look at the daily news about young people committing suicide, being consumed in the digital world, running wild and wreaking havoc all around us to see that the curse is already here to some extent.

Let’s turn that around today! Work With Your Hands projects are one way that we can start now to turn our hearts to our children and capture their hearts in the process.

There are a variety of different projects designed for different skill levels. Start today with fun, creative and skill building projects that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Select your projects from our growing list of options. We also provide recommendations for a variety of tools and materials that you can purchase separately to assist in the building of the various projects.
